In a materialistic city, a group of artists in Hong Kong still live by the motto that “man shall not live by bread alone.” Wong Chung-yu, an initiator of digital ink art, brings together the best elements of western and oriental cultures to create contemporary art pieces. Choreographer Pewan Chow tries hard to break the invisible line between dance performers and audience. Her recent interactive performance work marked a new frontier in Hong Kong’s dance performance history.

Lady TONG Yang-tze, a prominent contemporary calligrapher of Taiwan, has inherited the traditions of Chinese calligraphy in her works to express the essence of classical Chinese calligraphy art. Tong is keen to interact with artists of different disciplines and has attempted to apply calligraphy in a variety of media. She has integrated effectively both the fine traditions of calligraphy and contemporary arts in her artistic creations, garnering attention and discussion.

Having grown up in the mountains Chiayi, installation artist WANG Wen-chih weaves his memories of mountains and forests into his work. Using natural materials such as bamboo, rattan and wood, WANG creates his art with hands and collective labour. The huge spaces he constructs emit such deep and strong power that surprise and move countless visitors.
